What is Acne?
Acne is a chronic inflammatory disease of the Phil sebaceous duct, characterized by Macules, Papules and at times Nodules Cysts, and Scars. The primary lesion at the beginning stages of acne is the Comedone. (Whitehead or blackhead).
Causes of Acne
Common wisdom sees acne as a plugged duct with oily skin, although the condition is far more complex.
Four Major Factors in The Formation of Acne
|
Increased sebum production (excessive oil) |
|
An abnormality of the micro flora of the skin (thickening of the skin Texture) |
|
Cornification of the Philo sebaceous apparatus (a build up of dead Skin cells in the pores) |
|
An inflammatory process (redness and inflammation, due to the Production of bacteria) |
Acne is caused by the action of the androgens of the hair follicles and sebaceous glands in a susceptible person. Acne begins when a hair follicle produces cells that stick together so tightly that they cannot be shed. These cells mix with other skin materials, such as pigment bacteria, and stick to one another forming a plug, which blocks the pore. This lesson is called a Comedone (blackhead or whitehead). Bacteria are than trapped and multiply. White blood cells enter the tissue causing to liquefy and form pus.
No single method of treatment is the best approach for all patients with acne or acne scarring. A Clinical skin care program must be individualized according to the type and severity of the condition. Then must be modified as one observes the response to the prescribed regimen. The complete involvement of someone beginning any clinic skin care program is vital to achieve maximum results. There must be a team approach for the correction of the skin care problem.
A clinical skin care program begins with a skin consultation. A skin care specialist will access your skin condition(s) and review a confidential health questionnaire with you. It is very important to know that the following factors influence the production of acne.
